I feel since I am jumping in as Lt. to a historied guild such as Tri with many older pilots once having been an active participant, it is only customary to introduce myself to my fellow pilots, whether they be long gone from the VendettaVerse or just biding their time for the turbulent guild currents to pass. It wouldn't be right of me to merely pop up as a new Lt without saying a word.
I am Luxen De'Mark, in game as Luxen. I joined Vendetta Online in December of 2015, originally on an Android tablet. My first year was pretty rocky - not only did I make many mistakes new pilots do these days, but I happened to do it all while relying on an intermittent Wi-Fi connection coming from my neighbors house across the street. Even so, I subbed after a mere two weeks of entering the game; while at the time I had no idea what for, VO happened to have an active and engaged community who cared about their game, something that many other online games seem to lack. A year later, around the time I started using my PC for VO, I took over the then-defunct [SB] Space Bears guild, now known as [GFUR]. I attempted to turn the guild around into a new pilot training program (The previous RP was more like a social group for a few friends and didn't foster much activity), but by January 2017 I realized the futileness of running a guild single-handedly, especially when I am ill-fit for a CO position. At the same time, there was a huge fuss among the even older pilots in the community that ultimately built up until Incarnate had to step in and strike down the three biggest britches. The silence in the game afterwards was a greater curse than I wish to admit, and many pilots seemed to proclaim the game dead and left. About late march, I was finally fed up with the going-ons and wished to prove those naysayers wrong, and began planning an event to host. I originally thought of hosting Nation Wars, but it was because of existing factional and guild borders that the mentioned event became as large as it had, not to mention that I had never before participated in Nation Wars and stressed a little that I wouldn't be able to properly host it. Instead, I pulled up memories of a whim of an event that had been hosted by Greenwall nearly a year before. with a little refinement, I hosted the first TeamDX on March 26th. I eventually hosted it bi-weekly until the end of august, when a combination of IRL things and a few pilots who had issue with my hosting an event (despite being the same pilots who complained nobody was hosting events before) forced me to take some time off from that activity.
Over that time, I developed some strong anti-faction feelings; any time pilots could put aside their silly and antiquated feelings of animosity for each other, they could remain civil and still have plenty of fun dueling each other. I did my best to encourage pilots to remain separate or civil, to the degree if some pilots were causing a ruckus in 100 while fighting, I'd call one side's members off and fight them in isolated sectors, hopefully defusing the situation. Other times, I would head off to hone my own combat skills against any pilot I could, should it have been a quieter night or not too much aggression was flying around. In the meantime, I tried to foster a larger presence on the global help channel, since many newer pilots appeared to be ignored, and new pilots are the lifeblood of Vendetta Online. Come late October, Nihilus begins telling me about how he wishes for the old faction-neutral TRI. In fact, a particular phrase he said greatly appealed to me: "TRI will be an eye in the storm of VO politics". Only a little later did I realize he was trying to recruit me into TRI itself as its Lt, due to my experience at being a neutral-faction pilot friendly with many people and due to my high activity in VO (I've been logging in near-nightly for close to half a year now). It ended up being that Nihilus spent 5 hours near-straight convincing me to join TRI; in the face of such determination, who was I to refuse?
As your new Lt in TRI, I hope to uphold the guild's direction towards neutrality and to ensure TRI's future remains bright among the embittered ocean of Vendetta Online, and I thank you both for giving me this chance and for reading my outrageously long post.
